Is online care right for you?

An online evaluation may be a good fit if you

  • Have a condition that limits how far you can walk
  • Use a cane, walker, wheelchair or other mobility aid
  • Have a heart or lung condition that limits your activity
  • Can share records or a diagnosis from your other providers

You may need an in-person exam if

  • Your condition can't be confirmed on a video exam and your records
  • Your condition is new and hasn't been evaluated yet
  • Your clinician needs to examine you to complete the form

How your parking permit visit works

  1. Answer questions about your condition and how it affects your mobility, and upload any records you have.
  2. You meet a board-certified clinician licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania on a live video visit. They examine you and review your history in real time.
  3. If you qualify, your clinician completes the medical certification section of your application (SP-41 for a permanent placard or SP-68 for a temporary one). You then submit it to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania MVC.

Your $69 video visit covers the clinical evaluation. Any state application fees are separate.

Parking permit questions

Can I do this as a message visit?

No. Parking permit evaluations are always done on a live video visit, because your clinician needs to examine you in real time before certifying your application.

Will I definitely get a placard?

Your clinician certifies only when your condition meets the state's requirements. The New Jersey and Pennsylvania MVC makes the final decision on your application.

What should I have ready?

Your photo ID, a list of your conditions and medications, any mobility aids you use, and records from your other providers if you have them.

Can I get a temporary placard?

Yes, if your condition is temporary. Your clinician will note whether your condition is temporary or permanent on your application.

Who submits the application?

You do. Once your clinician completes the medical section, you send the application to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania MVC.
